variety of nuts used in the tracks and structural areas.
Nuts are furnished in light, medium and heavy patterns and are
available in hex, square, and slotted nuts.
Above nuts are manufactured in low carbon, medium carbon and alloy
steel or heat treated to grade 5 and 8 specifications.
Available in 3/8” through 4-1/2” both in course and fine
threads.
Locknuts
There
are three types of locknuts.
Two way locknuts, top locknuts and nylon insert locknuts.
Locknuts are furnished in light and heavy patterns as well.
Coupling
nuts

many types and sizes of coupling nuts in various materials including low
carbon, medium carbon, alloy and in stainless steel as well.
Available in ¼” thread diameter up to 2”
Rail
lock nuts
United
Steel & Fasteners has designated a special lock nut for use in rigid
track applications.
A special nylon insert locking device will absorb maximum
vibrations and will prevent track bolts, frog and switch bolts from
becoming loose and off the tracks.
These particularly designed nuts are a high volume and low cost
production item and could be fastened with standard wrenches now in use
throughout the USA and Canadian railroad systems.
Manufactured from C-1045 steel in extra thick patter to meet all
A.R.E.A. requirements.
Cap
nuts
United
Steel furnishes two sizes of cap nuts used on rail braces 7/8” and 1”
capnuts are hot forged from SAE 1045 steel therefore achieving a greater
strength and rigidity.
